Birchwood and Yarborough Leisure Centres Set to Reopen Following Refurbishment

The Birchwood Leisure Centre in Lincoln is set to reopen in its entirety this Thursday, illustrating considerable progress for the local community. The Centre, alongside Yarborough Leisure Centre, has been shuttered since April after previous operator, Active Nation, collapsed due to financial hardship. Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL) has subsequently stepped in as the new interim operator, on a two-year contract. Both Birchwood and Yarborough centres have had facelifts, and their outdoor facilities have been accessible since April, confirmed by the City of Lincoln Council. The phased reopening of Yarborough is to coincide with Birchwood’s, with full operations expected by 14th August. The Council’s leader, Ms Naomi Tweddle, has commended the collective work to revitalise these crucial community resources, highlighting their relevance as fitness and social gathering hubs. The maintenance of high standards for the benefit of local residents falls upon GLL, which enjoys a good reputation in managing public sport and leisure facilities throughout the UK.
