The Geoff Moulder Leisure Complex in Boston is in the initial stages of substantial refurbishment, with upgrades to local amenities underway. Partially financed by a £280,000 award from Sport England’s Swimming Pool Support Fund, the project forms an integral part of a wider investment of £14.5 million into Boston. The initiative involves the construction of a new public plaza that will link the complex with the Mayflower development at Boston College. The council leader, Dale Broughton, classified this as a significant landmark for the region.
The rejuvenation will witness the launch of a multi-functional studio area, a fitness suite, and an advanced cycling studio on the first floor. Moreover, the present fitness suite will be transformed into a hub for community volunteering and wellness, projected to house the Lincolnshire Community Volunteering Service. There will be a considerable overhaul of the gym changing amenities on the ground floor. Crucially, the leisure centre will stay open during the renovation process, with access to all facilities being granted through a new reservation system.
Earlier this year, improvements were also implemented at the Princess Royal Sports Arena in Wyberton, encompassing enhanced ventilation and new pool covers. These upgrades form part of Boston’s extensive regeneration initiatives, funded by the government’s Levelling Up Fund and the Boston Town Deal. Broughton stated that they’re now entering an extremely transformative phase in Boston’s regeneration.
