Cordon Established Around Significant Sinkhole in Gainsborough

A significant sinkhole, akin to the size of a football, has appeared on Ropery Road in Gainsborough, necessitating an emergency response from Lincolnshire County Council. Jonathan Evans of the council’s highways department noted the sinkhole as being particularly large, with a depth of 80cm and a width ranging between 1m and 1.5m. Nonetheless, Evans was quick to reassure residents that there is no immediate peril of the hole expanding further. The council acted swiftly in establishing a cordon around the area as a safety measure while it undertakes further assessments.
