Red Arrows Jet Experiences Bird Strike Before VJ Day Flypast

One of the RAF Red Arrows jets experienced a bird strike while en route to carry out a commemoratory flypast to mark the 80th anniversary of VJ Day. This incident transpired while the team was on its way to the National Memorial Arboretum, located near Lichfield, Staffordshire.

In spite of the unexpected occurrence, the pilot succeeded in returning to Bournemouth with safety. Eight of the Arrows accomplished the subsequent flypast. The Red Arrows, a common spectacle in the sky above Lincolnshire due to their base being located at RAF Scampton, later put up a performance with all nine jets at the renowned Eastbourne International Airshow based in East Sussex.
