Grimsby Woman’s Journey Highlights Vital Expansion of Eating Disorder Services in North Lincolnshire

A woman from Grimsby, who once lived life hour by hour due to a debilitating eating disorder, has commended the recent expansion of essential support services. The 24-year-old, known as Ebony, began her recovery process with Rharian Fields. This specialist service, run by Navigo, is a social enterprise dedicated to providing mental health services in the North East of Lincolnshire.

Benefiting from this support, Ebony embarked on her journey to recovery. From her teenage years where she first engaged with the service, she has come a long way to graduate from university and secure satisfying employment.

The expansion of services means that Rharian Fields can now extend its supportive reach into North Lincolnshire, offering help and encouragement to an even greater number of individuals facing similar struggles. The aim of the North Lincolnshire Adult Community Eating Disorder Service expansion is to serve those living with or at risk of developing eating disorders. Individuals aged 17 and a half or older can gain access by means of referral through their GPs.

Mandy Barker, the clinical lead for community eating disorder services, pointed out the increased demand for these services since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. This highlights the importance and relevance of the expansion for the local community.
