Scheduled to be induced, Abigail went into labour at home, giving birth to her second child in the bathroom. After experiencing significant bleeding and complications with the delivery of the placenta, her partner called 999 for emergency help.
The LNAA team, which included Dr Nick Tilbury and paramedic Alex Walker, arrived rapidly within 13 minutes to provide vital treatment. Owing to their rapid intervention, Abigail’s condition was stabilised and she was later conveyed to the hospital, from which she was discharged the same day. She is currently planning a 32-mile walk around Ullswater Way in the Lake District to collect funds for the air ambulance service that helped her so crucially.
Recollecting the traumatic event, Abigail expressed her gratitude for the team’s skilled and empathetic care, mentioning how they comforted her amidst a terrifying situation. She portrayed the crew’s skills as unforgettable and stressed the significance of their life-saving work. The LNAA continues to function around the clock, prepared to manage all kinds of emergencies, including obstetric and neonatal interventions.
