Sally Horscroft: Green Party Hopeful Kicks Off Her Greater Lincolnshire Mayoral Crusade

Sally Horscroft, the Green Party’s candidate, has officially thrown her hat into the ring for the forthcoming Greater Lincolnshire Mayoral election. The public announcement took place at a gathering on Hessle Foreshore this Sunday, March 30. Horscroft is no stranger to the political arena, having run for Lincoln MP in the 2019 and 2024 General Elections, both times securing a fourth-place finish. The election is slated for Thursday, May 1. If victorious, Horscroft will step into history as the first-ever Mayor of Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority. The Green Party representative has big plans for Lincolnshire, from tackling wealth inequality, to becoming a hub for research, development, and innovation in green technology and agriculture, to bolstering the local economy and small businesses. Horscroft also voiced her concerns over the potential loss of up to 2,700 jobs at British Steel’s Scunthorpe site and advocated for its nationalisation. Finally, with strong personal ties to Lincolnshire, she aims to support local pubs, rejuvenate libraries, and build strong, resilient, adaptable communities for a thriving local economy.
