Decades of Deceit: Cleethorpes Man Caged for Historic Child Abuse

Melvin Denton, a 79-year-old resident of Windsor Road in Cleethorpes, has been sentenced to 10 years behind bars following a trial at Grimsby Crown Court. The court found Denton guilty of a series of sexual abuse incidents involving a minor in the late ’90s. The shocking crimes, committed between 1997 and 2000, included four counts of gross indecency and five indecent assaults on a girl under the age of 14. In addition to his decade-long incarceration, Denton was slapped with a one-year extension on his sentence and will have his name permanently etched on the sex offenders register.
