Residents of Sutton on Sea are being requested to remain vigilant for Bonnie, a 25-year-old leopard tortoise, who has been unaccounted for since Tuesday. Liz Curnock, Bonnie’s owner, is extremely worried as Bonnie, who tips the scales at 13kg and is 40cm long, vanished from her enclosure on Grove Road. Liz theorises that Bonnie may have strayed through an unsecured gate and is nervous for her health in the crisp Lincolnshire climate. Leopard tortoises need particular care, encompassing adequate heat and a unique diet, as they do not hibernate like other types of tortoises. Lisa Dean of Beauty’s Legacy, a group dedicated to uniting lost pets with their owners, has underlined the criticality of locating Bonnie promptly due to her requirement for specialist care. “There is optimism she hasn’t strayed far,” Lisa observed. Residents are being encouraged to report any sightings in the hope of safely returning Bonnie to her home.
