Mablethorpe Carnival, an annual highlight in Lincolnshire’s coastal community, will not take place this year due to forecasted adverse weather conditions. The event’s organisers decided to cancel both the carnival and the Bathing Beauties Craft Festival scheduled for Saturday, heeding national weather forecasts warning of high wind speeds and rainfall.
Carl Richardson, chair of Mablethorpe Carnival and Community Events, communicated his sincere regret about the cancellation, highlighting the considerable volunteer input in event planning. The carnival, with history tracing back prior to World War Two and which underwent a revival 16 years ago, aims to bounce back ‘bigger and brighter’ in the upcoming year, dependent on weather conditions.
Despite the ensuing disappointment, prioritising the safety of attendees and participants is of utmost importance. The organising team is in the process of contacting all participants and arranging necessary refunds.
