A sad discovery was made in the Humber Estuary when a dolphin was found washed ashore and lifeless near Goxhill, North Lincolnshire, on Sunday afternoon. Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue revealed they were alerted to the incident approximately around 15:30 BST. The Humber Coastguard also played a role in the rescue response due to the special status of dolphins, which are considered Royal Fish under UK law and hence, they fall under the jurisdiction of the Monarchy. The dolphin has since been transported to London under the care of the UK Cetacean Strandings Investigation Programme for further examination in order to decipher the events leading to its demise. This particular incident has significantly highlighted the diverse wildlife present in the region and underscored the important role played by local organisations in responding to such distressing events.
