Scunthorpe’s final bingo hall, located on Brigg Road, is slated for conversion into a storage facility. The current site operator, Buzz Bingo, has been issued with notice to relocate by 9 April 2026. Initially, the North Lincolnshire Council refused the plan due to the anticipated loss of a crucial community establishment. However, a planning inspector reversed this decision.
Even while recognising the significance of the bingo hall to the community, the inspector’s decision to approve the transformation was informed by factors such as the financial viability issues and a lack of demand for other purposes. Buzz Bingo is now on the lookout for a new venue within Scunthorpe.
This development may cause job reductions, however, the council emphasised the prospective advantages for local small scale businesses that the new storage facility could provide.
