Alex, the student in question, centres his studies on the trials and accomplishments of modernising historic urban areas to accommodate current retail and leisure needs.
Alex, a resident of the areas surrounding Lincoln, has picked the Cornhill transformation as the subject of his dissertation. The overhaul, which transpired from 2017 to 2020, incorporated substantial changes to the Corn Exchange building, Sincil Street, and Exchange Square. With Cornhill Market set to open its newly renovated doors in May 2024, the study is both current and captivating.
Alex’s survey strives to not only collect data on how the public views the transformation, but also to explore wider issues like the conservation of historic establishments and the environmental impact of new buildings as opposed to revamping existing ones.
