A Lincolnshire prison worker has been handed an eight-month prison sentence after admitting to a sexual relationship with an inmate at HMP North Sea Camp, near Boston. Yolanda Briggs, age 52, from Stickney, pled guilty to misconduct in public office at Lincoln Crown Court. Court proceedings revealed that Briggs engaged in an intimate relation with prisoner, Allan Collins, from 31 May to 19 September 2024. Colleagues raised concerns about Briggs’ frequent appearances in the staff mess area, where Collins was assigned. An unattributed letter provided further insights into their clandestine rendezvous at the prison and at Briggs’ residence during Collins’ day release. Despite appeals for leniency, the presiding judge underscored the significance of maintaining professional boundaries within the prison service and also pointed out Briggs’ intention to persist with the relationship post Collins’ release.
