Spilsby residents have shared their apprehensions concerning the abrupt closure of Spilsby Surgery, a medical facility catering to approximately 7,455 patients. The surgery’s closure was a result of NHS Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board’s announcement that the present GP partners will cease to provide care in the near future. The decision led to Spilsby Surgery’s partnership being withdrawn from the Care Quality Commission’s registrar due to the partners leaving with inadequate notice.
In the interim, Lincolnshire and District Medical Services are expected to step in and manage patient care. Such a sudden change has left local patients, predominately the elderly, anxious about the implications, especially given the challenges in securing alternative health care services. Nonetheless, the Integrated Care Board assures patients that their care will continue uninterrupted and that medical records remain safe.
