Skills bootcamps in Lincolnshire, which are free of charge, are expanding to provide increased opportunities for both job seekers and those looking for a career change. The programme, which previously offered 35 courses, has now grown to offer 64 courses. These courses are concentrated on sectors such as construction, social care and hospitality—industries that frequently encounter recruiting difficulties.
Stephen Odling, a Lincoln local, is now training to become an HGV driver after being made redundant from his customer service position. The bootcamp has enabled him to afford a career shift. Councillor Liam Kelly from the Lincolnshire County Council speaks highly of the programme’s success. This year, a funding allocation of £5 million aims to provide training for over 1,500 individuals.
Local businesses are also reaping the benefits of this scheme. Branston Potatoes, for example, is actively participating by shaping newcomers via these courses.
