Boom Time for Grimsby’s Old Ramsdens Site as Wykeland Seals Deal with Retail Giant

The former Ramsdens site in Grimsby has been snapped up by commercial development heavyweights, Wykeland Group, who have grand designs on breathing new life into it. The deal includes an agreement to flog a chunk of the site to family-run retailer, Farmfoods, who will erect a spanking new 15,000 sq ft store, complete with car parking. Of course, this is all hinging on full planning permission being given the thumbs up for the new frozen food and grocery store. A planning application has already been fired off, and if it gets the green light, we could see up to 20 new jobs being created. Wykeland won’t be sitting idle with the remaining 1.8 acres, as they’re planning to draw in further investment and regeneration, while shelling out around £100,000 to spruce up the site, including carrying out structural repairs on a property facing Cleethorpe Road. The development, renamed Ramsden Park as a nod to its history, is a beacon of Wykeland’s dedication to Grimsby’s rejuvenation. The former Ramsdens site, which shut its doors for the last time in April 2016, has existing planning approval for 65,000 sq ft of retail development, with units ranging from 1,000 sq ft to 10,000 sq ft. But Wykeland isn’t ruling out other viable options for the site’s development.
