South Kesteven Council to Invest £2.6m in New Vehicle Fleet

The South Kesteven District Council has greenlit a £2.6 million fund to renew 54 of its outdated vehicles, a move which will guarantee the smooth operation of various community services. The consensus was arrived at during a recent cabinet gathering, during which 14 contracts for new vehicles were assigned. Councillor Rhys Baker, who is in charge of the environment and waste, flagged the significance of this investment in ensuring a dependable service throughout the district.

The vehicle costs will be covered from both the council’s housing services budget, which comes to £812,414, and the general fund. Deputy Leader Councillor Paul Stokes emphasised that the current fleet, which has come to the end of its working life, will be sold off, consistent with standard practices. The introduction of the new vehicles is intended to span across a timeframe of four years to ensure the continued efficiency and uninterrupted flow of council services.
