In a heartwarming act of generosity, an abundance of Easter eggs will put a smile on the faces of children in Grimsby and Lincolnshire, who are battling terminal or life-limiting illnesses. A local GP surgery has stepped up to the plate, making a generous contribution of the chocolate treats. Sunflowers Children’s Action Group, a charity dedicated to organising enjoyable events and support for these young ones and their families, will be the vehicle for this sweet gesture. Vicky Beckett, a practice nurse at the SLC Group, coordinated the donations, which were handed over at the Scartho Medical Centre on 2nd April. Derek McAndrew, the charity’s treasurer, lauded the local community’s magnificent response since the charity’s establishment in 2019. McAndrew emphasised that these Easter goodies aren’t merely dropped off at homes, but presented to the kiddies during the planned holiday events. The charity’s mission involves organising a host of activities for the children and their families, offering them the opportunity to create lasting memories. From sleepovers and cinema clubs to football matches and parties, the Sunflowers Children’s Action Group is committed to lightening the load for the families of these children in a rather challenging period. The charity, run solely by volunteers, ensures that all donations are channelled directly to supporting these families, with minimal operational expenses.
