A Stamford woman who caused a stir by brandishing a knife in broad daylight has been placed under a secure hospital order. The drama unfolded on Stamford’s bustling High Street, where officers were summoned to deal with a knife-wielding lady causing a ruckus outside Wilko’s, apparently miffed about car parking conditions. Ceire Clery, upon being approached, started waving her knife, leaving bystanders in a state of fear. The incident took place on January 28, 2024, and ended with Clery being apprehended, a serrated kitchen knife and a yellow-handled craft knife in her possession. After a slew of 90 incidents involving Clery between October 2023 and January 2024, ranging from public disorder to assault, the local law enforcement, in cooperation with mental health services, have finally managed to secure her in a facility where she can receive the necessary treatment. Clery will be kept there until staff deems her fit for release. The community is now breathing a sigh of relief, thankful that the ordeal is over and their safety is no longer jeopardised by Clery’s unpredictable behaviour.
