Covenham St Mary Man Sentenced for Six Years of ‘Persistent’ Abuse

Michael Law, resident of Newbridge Lane in Covenham St Mary, near Louth, has been convicted following a disturbing six-year episode of persistent abuse against a woman. At the age of 42, Law executed a variety of oppressive conducts such as strangulation, financial control, and dictating personal decisions including clothing and cosmetic use. He also resorted to physical assault, throwing glasses at his victim and vandalising her clothes. According to reports by the Lincolnshire Police, Law purposefully aimed to create a sense of fear and dominance, essentially robbing the victim of her freedom. The court session took place on 16 October, wherein Law was found guilty of control or coercive behaviour, assault resulting in actual bodily harm, and two counts of intended strangulation. Inspector Rhys Cordy from the Lincolnshire Police highlighted the seriousness of Law’s actions and the deep impact on the victim’s wellbeing. This report has been adapted from the original story by the BBC.
