Inhabitants of Cleethorpes and the broader Lincolnshire region are being urged to collect their memorial plaques from Pier Gardens before major renovation work begins. North East Lincolnshire Council has declared that these plaques need to be retrieved before 3 November in line with an £18.4m regeneration scheme. Plaques that are not claimed will be safely stored by the council’s bereavement services for one year. The refurbishment of Pier Gardens will see the introduction of segmented areas, inclusive of water play and event spaces. Councillor Henry Hudson stresses the significance of these memorials to the local community and encourages owners to get in touch to discuss possibilities for relocation.
