Paramedic Hopeful Ploughs Down A180 Four Times Over the Limit

In an alarming case of reckless abandon, a man harbouring dreams of becoming a paramedic was found to be over four times the drink-drive limit whilst charging down the A180 in the wrong direction. Samuel Foulds, who had been celebrating passing an assessment for East Midlands Ambulance Service, was stopped by a vigilant Humberside Police sergeant before any harm could come to unsuspecting motorists. Foulds, a Hessle resident, had parked his red Vauxhall Corsa in a lay-by between the Brocklesby and Stallingborough interchanges before proceeding to hurtle down the carriageway in the wrong direction. When apprehended, the 30-year-old’s speech was noticeably slurred and his breath heavy with the scent of alcohol. A subsequent test at the police station revealed a reading of 151 mcgs in 100 millilitres, a staggering four times over the legal limit of 35 mcgs. Foulds confessed to having consumed cans of Stella during his drive home and apologised for his actions. Despite the serious nature of the incident, Recorder Andrew Latimer acknowledged Foulds’ previous good character and handed down a sentence of 10 months prison, suspended for 18 months. Foulds was also ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work, wear a drunk tag for 120 days and is banned from driving for three years, subject to passing an extended retest.
