Lincolnshire never fails to amaze, especially when it comes to its diverse and captivating history. First, it’s only right to pay tribute to our local heroes. Their bravery was remembered as World War II medals found a secure resting place in Grimsby. These valiant individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom continue to live in our collective memory. We appreciate the freedom they valiantly fought for, and their memory perpetually stays in our hearts. May this newly housed medal stand as a token of their gallantry.

The week took a twist towards literature when staff at Lincoln Cathedral unearthed an 1875 dinner party invitation from none other than Lewis Carroll himself. Picture the thrill of such a historical discovery! A separate discovery in Lincoln showed the beloved author’s preference for tea. It’s a rare treat to get such a personal insight into the existence of a celebrated author, and in our very own city no less! These fascinating findings have undoubtedly brought a spark of magic to our week.

Simultaneously, in East Kirkby, the careful restoration of ‘Just Jane’, the Lancaster Bomber, continues apace. The elation is tangible as we collectively yearn for the day she returns to the skies––a moving testament of our local contribution to aviation history.
