Branston Man Admits Causing Death of Seven-Year-Old in Metheringham Crash

A Branston resident, Veselin Dudenski, aged 39, living on Cherry Avenue, has admitted to causing the death of a seven-year-old child, Elsie Gascoigne, due to dangerous driving. This upsetting incident took place on 3rd January on Metheringham Heath Lane B1202, Nocton, near Sleaford. Elsie, a Metheringham resident, was returning from a shopping excursion when the car she was travelling in collided with Dudenski’s van. The unfortunate young girl sustained significant injuries and, heartbreakingly, did not survive beyond the early hours of the following day. Dudenski attended Lincoln Crown Court, where he also confessed to causing severe injuries to another adult involved in the same accident. A bail request was denied, and Dudenski has been remanded in custody pending his sentencing on 28th November. Judge Catarina Sjolin Knight recognised the gravity of the crimes, commenting that Dudenski’s choice to present himself in court was “remarkable”. The Gascoigne family have expressed their desire for a speedy sentencing process.
