A proposal for a new £35 million plastic waste recycling plant has been put forward in Sleaford, Lincolnshire. The facility is planned to be positioned at Sleaford Moor Enterprise Park and is estimated to process 25,000 tonnes of plastic per year via pyrolysis, a process which transforms plastics into oil. The project is spearheaded by Clean Planet Energy. The initiative could potentially enable the creation of 70 permanent jobs and provide 100 temporary job opportunities over its two-year building phase. Enthusiastic support for the proposal has been voiced by local figures such as Councillor Richard Wright of the North Kesteven District Council due to the perceived benefits for both the local economy and the environment. Lincolnshire County Council holds the responsibility of making a final decision on the project. Public responses have been invited and can be submitted on the Council’s website.
