Lincoln’s Anti-Social Behaviour Hub, Ermine United Reform Church, Faces Imminent Demolition

Ermine United Reform Church, a Lincoln landmark built in the 1950s, has reached a sorrowful state of disrepair and has sadly become a hub for anti-social activities. It now poses a significant risk to the local community and may face demolition in the coming weeks. The City of Lincoln Council, which took ownership of the church on Sudbrooke Drive several years ago, has stated the demolition is a matter of public safety. The council has yet to reveal any plans for the future use of the site once the structure is razed. The demolition proposal is currently under review by planning officers to determine if a full application is required. If approved without delay, the demolition is expected to proceed between May and August. The site’s current condition, with concealed areas attracting anti-social behaviour, has led to this drastic measure. Additionally, the dilapidated building could pose danger if broken into. To ensure safety, it is proposed that the site be levelled and turfed over until future development plans are finalised. The church is nestled within half an acre of greenery that might prove appealing for future council housing projects.
