On the 1st of May, the citizens of Lincolnshire will cast their votes to elect the first-ever mayor for the newly formed Greater Lincolnshire authority. Among the candidates is Sally Horscroft, the 67-year-old Chair of the Lincoln Green Party. She also plans to address wealth inequity by promoting high-skill, high-wage jobs and working towards reducing homelessness and fuel poverty. Public transport, too, is on Horscroft’s agenda, with promises of investment in affordable and accessible services, improved road and rail links, and new pedestrian and cycling routes. Horscroft is committed to bolstering local businesses and agriculture, which she sees as the backbone of Lincolnshire’s economy. She also plans to enhance community cohesion by increasing investments in public spaces, community centres, and libraries to combat social isolation and promote both physical and mental wellbeing.
