Forestry England is set to establish a fifth woodland pocket in Lincolnshire, which will considerably expand the county’s green regions. Situated near the Hamlet of Hagworthingham, the new woodland will cover an area of 252 acres (102 hectares) and will complement the ongoing schemes at Cadney, North Carlton, Newball, and Mickleholme. When finished, the projects are expected to contribute an additional 3.7 square miles (9.6 square kilometres) of new tree cover throughout Lincolnshire, a substantial addition to a county known as one of England’s least forested, with current tree cover standing at just 4% of its total land area.
