New Lincolnshire Council Chief Tasked with £1m Cost-Saving Mission

Title: Newly Appointed Lincolnshire Council Chief Assigned £1m Cost-Cutting Responsibility

Confirmed Text:
Andrew Crookham, the soon-to-be-chief executive of Lincolnshire County Council, has been assigned the task of slashing £1 million from the expenses of the council’s senior leadership. Taking over the reins from Debbie Barnes, who plans to retire next spring after serving for nearly two decades, Mr Crookham’s appointment was validated at a full council gathering.

Council leader Sean Matthews expressed his expectation towards Mr Crookham, ‘His primary responsibility so far is to save £1m within the senior leadership team.’ The initial salary for Mr Crookham stands at over £204,000, making him the highest remunerated public worker in the county. Mr Matthews highlighted the need for such salary range, mentioning, ‘The amount appears staggering, however, it aligns with current rates. We could have opted for someone on £50,000, but the competency would not match expectations.’

Labour representative Karen Lee has shown her appreciation for Ms Barnes’ work, making a statement that she was ‘every bit worth her salary.’ Mr Matthews holds a belief that Mr Crookham is the ‘most suitable candidate’ to ensure a seamless transition with the exiting chief’s policies and procedures.
