Green Light for Six New Homes in New Holland Following Appeal

In a recent turn of events, the construction of six homes in New Holland has been given the go-ahead after a successful planning appeal. Hammond Homes Ltd, the property developer behind the project, had reapplied to build the homes on a plot nestled next to the Magna Charta Inn, off Barrow Road. Initial proposals for a three-storey development were previously denied, even at the appeal stage. However, the revised submission, featuring a two-storey design and 12 parking spaces, was presented to North Lincolnshire Council’s planning committee in June 2024, following objections from New Holland Parish Council. Despite being rejected again, the verdict was ultimately overturned by a planning inspector. The inspector’s report highlighted that there were no specific design aspects that would make the development appear unattractive or poorly designed. The inspector further appreciated the scale, massing, and arrangement of the homes, which are divided into two sets of three, each containing three bedrooms. This, they concluded, would complement the local area’s character. Nevertheless, the approved development comes with several conditions, including a requirement for satisfactory private driveways and parking spaces before residents move in. Additionally, due to flood risk, all bedrooms must be located above the ground floor. Provisions for local wildlife have also been considered, with the inclusion of bat boxes and swift bricks.
