Branston Van Driver Jailed for Fatal Metheringham Heath Crash

A Branston delivery driver has received a six-year prison sentence after his involvement in a fatal accident resulted in the death of a young girl and severe injuries to her father. Veselin Dudenski, 39, was convicted at Lincoln Crown Court for dangerous overtaking on a concealed dip on the B1202 at Metheringham Heath, near Sleaford, on January 3rd. The court was informed of how Dudenski’s reckless driving caused a head-on collision with a car driven by Mr. Gascoigne, carrying seven-year-old Elsie.

Her parents remember Elsie as a lively and vibrant child whose presence was always felt. Elsie sustained deadly injuries from the collision, sadly passing away the following morning despite Mr. Gascoigne’s best efforts to avoid the incident. Judge Sjolin Knight, during the sentencing, expressed that although Dudenski did not consciously neglect road signs, his impatient driving reflected a lack of awareness and responsibility.

In addition to his sentence, Dudenski received an eight-year driving ban. Elsie’s mother, Kerry, voiced her deep sorrow over the loss of her daughter, saying it was a penalty no parent should ever have to suffer.
