Hit-and-Run Victim Shares Her Life-Altering Tale Amid Police Campaign

Danielle Foster, 42, was left with life-altering injuries after being struck by a car speeding over 45mph whilst crossing Princes Avenue, Hull. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of 31 July 2022, resulted in Foster spending a month in hospital and struggling with simple tasks such as brushing her hair or using the loo. The culprit, Luke Gough, 36, from Marfleet Lane, Hull, received a sentence of five-and-a-half years after admitting to causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Foster’s story is now part of a Humberside Police campaign aimed at combating reckless and distracted driving. The campaign follows a grim statistic: 32 people have lost their lives on the roads in the past year. Other tragic stories include that of Alex Ramsden, a Grimsby teacher who lost his life to a drink-driver, and Natasha Woroch, who died in a crash caused by her intoxicated boyfriend. The campaign emphasises the devastating ripple effect of such incidents, with the message: ‘it takes one second to take a life, one second to ruin your own, one second to lose your job, one second to leave a family grieving forever.’
