The Lincoln community is in deep sorrow following the discovery of University of Lincoln student, Connor James Calleja’s body at Foss Bank. Calleja, 20, was originally from Market Harborough. He was reported missing on Sunday morning, leading to considerable search efforts in the local area. The discovery of his body on Tuesday brought such efforts to a heartrending end.
Calleja was pursing an Architecture degree at the University of Lincoln, where he had been commended for his diligent and tenacious approach to his studies, routinely securing high grades. His family highlighted that he was ‘greatly valued’ by fellow students and lecturers, and recognised among his friends as being ‘loyal and loving’.
A keen Chelsea supporter, Calleja was also a music enthusiast, able to proficiently perform on both piano and guitar. Known for for being devoted to routines, he was also known for his humour, even regularly jesting about eating directly from the saucepan to skip the cleaning.
Calleja’s family spoke affectionately of his kind-hearted nature and the happiness he radiated. “He was our everything – our child, our universe. We couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful son,” they regretfully expressed.
Both staff and students from the University of Lincoln community expressed their sorrow over the untimely loss of one of their own. Additionally, they extended condolences and supportive sentiments to Calleja’s family during this challenging time.
