Midnight Terror in Grimsby: Woman Bound and Threatened in Home Invasion

A petrifying home invasion unfolded on Freeman Street, Grimsby, when a woman was attacked, bound and threatened with death by a gang of four masked men, Grimsby Crown Court was told. The assailants, hailing from the Birmingham area, executed their heinous act under the cloak of darkness. Shiguang Zhong, a 42-year-old man from Eden Road, Rugby, pleaded guilty to the horrifying incident that occurred last year. Prosecutor Michael Forrest relayed the chilling details of the midnight attack on October 16, where the victim, upon answering a persistent knock at her door, was assaulted, bound and gagged by the quartet brandishing a Taser, an electric baton and a knife. She was left in anguish, in minimal clothing, and threatened with death if she continued to scream. £600 was found missing from her bedroom after the ordeal. Zhong was captured on CCTV footage parking on Garibaldi Street before the incident. He was also linked to the crime scene by a GPS monitored tag and a phone left behind bearing his email address. Zhong, previously jailed in 2023 for controlling prostitution for gain and affray and possession of a blade, was sentenced to seven-and-a-half years. He will serve two-thirds of the sentence before being considered for parole. Police are continuing to investigate to identify the remaining criminals.
