A shocking incident unfolded at Old Clee Social Club, where two brothers violently assaulted a man who, unbeknownst to them at the time, was suffering from leukaemia. The brothers had attended a wedding reception prior to launching the unprovoked assault on the ill man in the club’s car park. The victim was left unconscious, with a broken rib, a swollen jaw, and cuts to his face. The perpetrators were identified as Jordan Stratton, 26, and Robbie Stratton, 27, both from Cleethorpes. They were arrested and charged respectively with assault causing actual bodily harm, affray, and assaulting a police officer. The latter charge resulted from Robbie Stratton resisting arrest, during which he shoved an officer into a bush, causing facial injuries. Both brothers expressed remorse for their actions, with their defence attorneys emphasising that they had been under the influence of alcohol and emotional stress due to their father’s wedding. However, Judge Richard Woolfall was unimpressed, sentencing Jordan Stratton to 18 months in prison and Robbie Stratton to 11 months, stating that police officers should not be harmed while performing their duties and that such violent behaviour is unacceptable.
