Fugitive Found Potted in Local Pub Sent Back to Slammer

A local pub game of pool in Gainsborough ended in an unexpected twist when one of the players, an escaped prisoner, was recognised and subsequently jailed for an additional six months. Liam Lytollis, 31, was discovered on Valentine’s Day at the White Horse pub, a locale he was familiar with. Lytollis had been an inmate at HMP Sudbury in Derbyshire, serving an indeterminate sentence for public protection. His lawyer, Leanne Summers, told the court that Lytollis had been grappling with mental challenges due to the uncertainty of his release date, which led him to break out. Lytollis was accused of disappearing from the open jail for a three-hour window on the evening of 6th February, without any authorised leave. Upon his arrest, a knife with a three-inch blade was discovered on his person. Lytollis, who does not have a permanent residence, confessed to escaping from custody and possessing a bladed article. After his jailbreak, Lytollis sought refuge in an abandoned caravan using the knife, after a brief visit to his mother’s place had put her in a difficult position. He then made his way to the White Horse, well known to him, and revealed his fugitive status. Recorder Adrian Jack, who sentenced Lytollis, expressed concern about his possession of a blade and emphasised the necessity of an additional sentence. Lytollis’ six-month sentence will be served concurrently with his ongoing indeterminate sentence for public protection.
