Residents of Cleethorpes and Grimsby are being invited to share their thoughts on plans for the potential combination of Cleethorpes Library and Leisure Centre, as well as a potential new community hub in Grimsby town centre, complete with public library services. This latest 12-week consultation from North East Lincolnshire Council also assures that the existing Grimsby Central Library building would not be endangered by a move, noting its historic value and potential for other public uses. Similarly, should library services move in Cleethorpes, the current Alexandra Road building could represent a future development opportunity. Locals are also asked to weigh in on the potential reclassification of Waltham Library as a community library. These consultations follow a previous one in which it was discovered that locals value the libraries and archival services in the area, with the idea of community library hubs being widely supported. The council stresses that no decisions have been made and encourages residents to voice their views on these early-stage proposals. The survey can be accessed at NELC’s website and will be open until July 9th.
