Fire Officials Urge Caravan Safety Measures Following Tragic Blaze

Following the tragic loss of a father and daughter in a caravan fire earlier this month, Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service has been issuing crucial safety advice to holidaymakers in Skegness. Nottinghamshire residents Esme Baker, 10, and Lee Baker, 48, sadly perished in an accidental caravan fire in Ingoldmells on 5th April. In response, fire officials have been actively educating the public on fire safety measures, addressing concerns ahead of the summer holiday season. ‘Upon arrival, before even thinking about making a brew, take a moment to consider fire safety,’ advises Dan Moss, area manager for prevention and protection. Natasha Broadley, who tragically lost her two-year-old daughter Louisiana Brooke Dolan in a 2021 caravan fire, has been campaigning for improved fire safety regulations and has reached out to the Baker family to offer support. Fire officials have also been offering advice at Skegness Tower Esplanade, including the recommendation not to leave mobile phones charging overnight. The National Caravan Council highlights the importance of maintaining working smoke alarms, with at least one required in the hallway outside the bedrooms, and encourages holidaymakers to familiarise themselves with the caravan site licence, which outlines fire safety and health requirements. Fire safety officers regularly visit caravan parks to offer advice and identify potential risks.
