Affordable Housing Boost for Barnoldby-le-Beck with Eight Home Development Plan

A planning application has been submitted to construct eight affordable homes in the quaint North East Lincolnshire village of Barnoldby-le-Beck. The proposed development site, situated on Main Road behind The Georgian House, could see a mix of six two-bedroom semi-detached houses, a three-bedroom detached house, and a four-bedroom detached house, all aimed at providing affordable housing. Faber Architecture, the firm behind the proposal, stated an ‘identified need for affordable housing in Barnoldby-le-Beck’. They believe the construction will address local housing needs while preserving the village’s charming character. The plans also include improvements to Main Road such as a dedicated refuse collection area, vehicle and pedestrian passing places, and a turning area for fire service vehicles. To enhance the local greenery and biodiversity, the architects intend to plant new trees and safeguard existing ones. Faber Architecture received ‘generally positive’ feedback at a meeting with North East Lincolnshire planning officers on March 18. The proposed site is situated in Flood Zone 1, an area with a low risk of flooding, making it suitable for development. An ecological report was also submitted, citing that the area is likely to be home to protected species such as grass snakes, slowworms, and common lizards. The full planning proposal, validated on March 31, is available for public review on the North East Lincolnshire Council planning portal website.
