Title: Crackdown on Anti-Social Behaviour in Grimsby Park: Arrests of Young People Leads to Changes
Efforts to address anti-social behaviour in Grimsby’s Grant Thorold Park have resulted in the apprehension and charge of several young people. Enhanced patrols, covert surveillance, and dedicated CCTV monitoring have been in place since March 24, following incidents of disruptive activities including public property arson. Humberside Police, in cooperation with local entities such as Humberside Fire & Rescue and North East Lincolnshire Council, have made significant strides in attending to these issues, improving the safety of the park.
As part of these measures, a 14-year-old has been charged with attempting to damage a police vehicle and theft. Several other individuals have been arrested or put under the care of the Youth Justice Service, facing a range of offences. The initiative has also resulted in issuing dispersal orders, relocating certain individuals from the area and engaging with their parents about the children’s engagement in these activities.
Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant David Bullock stressed the value of community contribution and proactive steps, which have already seen encouraging results including interventions aimed at the youth to prevent further infractions. The police, alongside community partners, have held engagement sessions to gather feedback from residents and advertise safety.
Councillor Ron Shepherd commended the joint efforts, underlining the success of this alliance in ensuring that local parks continue to be safe and pleasant for all.
