Title: Keelby Youth Club Reimagined and Reopened by Dedicated Local Mother
Keelby Youth Club, a cherished institution in the local community and neighbouring villages, has been brought back to life after an 18-month hiatus. This revival is credited to Anna Crombie, a hardworking mother of five from Grimsby and founder of Arty Beanz, a community interest company that provides complimentary art and creative workshops. The revitalised Keelby Youth Club will make its home at the freshly renovated Keelby Youth Centre on Victoria Road, with doors due to open to young attendees this Thursday, May 1.
Keelby KidStars Club will be available for children aged six to ten from 5:30 pm to 7 pm every Thursday evening, featuring a range of activities such as drawing, painting, crafting, and baking. Following this, there will be an opening for older children aged ten to sixteen to participate in the Keelby NextGen youth programme from 7 pm to 8:30 pm. This programme, available at a modest fee of £2 per session, is primarily designed to nurture social and life skills through a diverse mix of activities, from art and design to cookery, sports, and community projects.
In conversation with Grimsby Live, Ms. Crombie expressed her keenness for the project, stating her intention behind establishing Arty Beanz was to enhance the social and emotional welfare of the community. She views her position as Keelby Youth Club Leader as an invaluable opportunity to provide children with a nurturing environment that promotes both enrichment and creativity.
Significant improvements have been made to the Keelby Youth Centre, which include a refreshed kitchen and newly painted walls, creating an energetic, amicable environment for youngsters. Crombie’s plan is to utilise this rejuvenated centre as not merely a hub for creativity, but also as an avenue for community engagement. It will function as a teaching ground where young individuals can learn to contribute positively to their surroundings and acquire vital life skills.
Parents eager to enroll their children in either or both programmes can connect with Anna Crombie via the Keelby Youth Club Facebook page or email her directly at annavcrombie@yahoo.co.uk.
