Scunny Bikers Rev Up Easter Joy for Hospitalised Children

Approximately 150 members of the Scunny Bikers group plan to deliver Easter surprises to children on the Disney Ward at Scunthorpe General Hospital. Their visit, scheduled for Good Friday, includes not only Easter eggs but a variety of toys and treats to improve the children’s spirits.

The extensive list of donations goes beyond the customary Easter goodies. They have also collected washbags, toiletries, dressing gowns, and even a foosball set, destined for the children’s outpatient ward. Disney Ward manager, Vikki McAlpine, commented on how these kind gestures positively affect young patients by giving them a temporary distraction from their hospital stay.

The bikers will kick off their journey from the Old Farmhouse on Doncaster Road at 11:00 BST. They will make a few stops at local supermarkets to increase their collection before reaching the hospital around 13:45 BST. Thanks to the support from the HealthTree Foundation and the hospital staff, the gifts will be distributed amongst the children.

Gavin Stubbs, the event organiser, voiced his appreciation towards the community for their generosity and backing, highlighting the joy it evokes in not only the children but also among the bikers themselves. This event is a beloved custom that illuminates the faces of children whilst marking a sentimental way to commemorate Easter.
