Plans to transform a renowned bar in Cleethorpes into an elegant apartment block with breath-taking sea views have been submitted. Local property entrepreneur, Kash Pungi, has proposed a plan to the North East Lincolnshire Council for converting the establishment at the intersection of Sea Road and North Promenade into ‘Sea View Apartments’. The development scheme includes designing nine modern, open-layout flats, which comprise one and two-bedroom options.
The design is envisaged to merge the concept of short stay holiday homes with long-term residences. Each flat will have a balcony that offers an attractive view of the coastline. The site which presently houses a pool bar has had several transformations over the years, including clientele favourites such as Park Lane and Lite House.
The bold project includes the addition of two new storeys, with the top one reserved exclusively for a permanent resident. The ground floor will retain its existing purpose, featuring amusement arcades and a kiosk. As stated in the Design and Access report, the transition from the site’s current use to residential flats is aimed at promoting an environment centred around community, fostering a family-friendly way of living.
By replacing the nightclub scene with sophisticated apartments, the objective is to create a welcoming space that aligns more with the essentials of both locals and visitors. Aside from optimising the use of available space, the redevelopment is also set to augment the overall appeal of the seafront. The introduction of residential spaces is predicted to attract a broad mix of people, in turn boosting local trade and contributing towards Cleethorpes’ ongoing revitalisation initiatives. The council is presently reviewing the plans.
