Nettleham Community Rallies After Fire Injures One and Disrupts Local Businesses

A residential fire which broke out at a flat above the Co-op on The Green in Nettleham, resulted in one man being hospitalised and interrupted the operations of several local businesses. Emergency services, comprising Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, were quick to respond to the incident which occurred approximately at 7pm. Initial response encompassed five appliances, which by the following morning had been reduced to one appliance. The injured man is said to be in a stable condition as per the police, who, in conjunction with fire services, are in the process of investigating the cause of the incident. There have been no further injuries reported.

The local community was advised to maintain all windows and doors closed due to imaginable smoke permeation. The communal spirit was noticeably present as one area resident provided refreshments to the attending emergency crews. Lincolnshire Police have confirmed that enquiries are ongoing and expressed their gratitude to the community for demonstrating patience, and commended them for their consistent support.

West Lindsey District Council expressed their understanding regarding the unfortunate impact on local businesses, and applauded the immediate and professional response by emergency services. A number of shops in close proximity to the incident, specifically Flowers By Design and Amata boutique, have temporarily ceased operations while they assess the smoke damage and confirm the safety of their premises. The affected businesses expressed their sympathy for the impacted family and reassured customers that they would update them concerning their planned reopening.

Residents in need of the council’s support have been advised to reach out to their emergency out of hours service. As the community and authorities anticipate the conclusion of the ongoing investigations, there remains a hopeful atmosphere regarding a speedy recovery for all affected parties.
