The East Lindsey District Council’s Planning Committee has granted approval for a new Starbucks drive-through on Millbrook Lane, Wragby, near Lincoln. Burney Estates Ltd received approval for its plans during a meeting that took place on Thursday, 10 April, marking a significant advancement for the area.
The new project is expected to generate around 20 full- and part-time job opportunities which will give the local economy a significant boost. The applicant suggests that other businesses in the area could profit from the ‘ripple effect’ the new café could potentially initiate.
The proposed site plans will provide for 26 parking spaces, which also includes a motorbike bay and a dedicated waiting bay for drive-through customers. Additionally, the design includes six charging stations for electric vehicles and two disabled parking spaces adjacent to the café.
Daren Burney, representative for the applicant, reassured councillors about the company’s devotion to East Lindsey, making reference to the newly opened Starbucks on South Parade in Skegness and a forthcoming Travelodge. Addressing any possible concerns, Mr Burney emphasised on Starbucks’ ‘strict litter policy’ and pointed out the drive-through’s appeal to a diverse demographic compared to those visiting traditional village cafés.
Conservative councillor Daniel McNally supported the proposal, citing the site’s current derelict state, whilst Independent councillor Ruchira Yarsley advocated for the introduction of more green spaces to enhance the area. Mr Burney conveyed his willingness to consider these suggestions.
