The Great Grimsby 10K and accompanying Family Fun Run are due to mark their 10th year on Sunday, 1st June, extending an inclusive invite to runners and joggers of varying abilities. The day’s event is arranged around a flat circuit through the heart of the town, ending with a vibrant celebration at People’s Park. Event organisers are predicting the town centre will be filled with a multitude of participants, spectators, and volunteers, making this anniversary event one to remember. Since its beginnings in 2016, approximately 27,000 runners have taken part in the race, covering an awe-inspiring distance of 167,400 miles – a range that surpasses halfway to the moon or over six orbits of the earth. Race directors, Neil and Nicola Pattison, voiced their heartfelt gratitude for the continued support from the dedicated volunteers, highlighting their invaluable contribution to the event’s success. Among the supporters, offshore wind farm firm Orsted has reaffirmed their backing for an additional three years. The Mayor of North East Lincolnshire, Councillor Steve Beasant, took the opportunity to comment on the significance of this 10th anniversary run and noted the remarkable amount of charitable donations raised by participants over the decade. Those who are keen to be involved in the event are still able to register.
