Councillor Denies ‘Sleeping Through Politics’ Allegation Amidst Reform UK Row

Reform UK has labelled a grievance against mayoral candidate Dame Andrea Jenkyns as ‘groundless and politically motivated,’ showing certainty that it will be dismissed. The dispute, implying that Jenkyns’ principal residence is in Yorkshire, appeared just days before the election. A spokesperson for Reform UK criticised the dispute as an effort to prevent Lincolnshire citizens from endorsing their candidate. In the meantime, a clash on social media has unfolded between Jenkyns and Lincolnshire County Councillor Tom Ashton. Jenkyns charged Ashton with propagating false information regarding her political career, which he emphatically refutes. Ashton dubbed the charge as ‘unusual,’ accrediting it to a misreading of a message shared within a Conservative WhatsApp group. The ongoing strains emphasise the fervid environment ahead of the elections on May 1st.
