Cross-Country Heist: Robber Jailed After 140-Mile Crime Spree

A man who travelled 140 miles to rob a Grimsby woman in her own house has been imprisoned for seven and a half years. Shiguang Zhong, 41, hailing from Rugby, planned and executed the burglary on Freeman Street with four other individuals, striking shortly before 1:00 AM on 16 October 2024. After a violent confrontation with the victim wherein he demanded money, Zhong restrained her and exited the scene in a car. Four days afterwards, the authorities arrested him with the assistance of his GPS tag, which recorded his path from Birmingham directly to the criminal incident. CCTV footage also captured his escape vehicle, providing additional evidence of his complicity. Zhong confessed to the larceny accusation at Grimsby Crown Court, where he received his sentencing on 10 April.
