Title: Ørsted’s Generous Donation: Repurposing First Aid Kits in Charity Drive
In a laudable display of community spirit, Ørsted has donated 60 first aid kits from its East Coast Hub in Grimsby to Project Soweto, a charity initiative based in Hull. Initially considered obsolete, these medical supplies have found a new purpose in helping animal rescue charities and humanitarian projects. Project Soweto, established in 2018, is adept at gathering and re-utilising such medical equipment to bring about a positive change in areas where they are most needed.
Rocky Clark, the founder of Project Soweto, recently collected the donated kits from Ørsted. He accentuated the double-pronged effectiveness of this magnanimous act, facilitating humanitarian work in regions like Soweto, South Africa, and in crisis zones of Ukraine, and concurrently preventing 20-35 tonnes of materials from ending up in landfill sites annually.
Steve McBride, in charge of QHSE for Ørsted’s UK East Generation, lauded the collaboration, terming it as a mutually beneficial interaction. He stressed the significance of sustainable practices that create a marked difference. The contribution from Ørsted not only bolsters the critical work carried out by Project Soweto, but also aligns seamlessly with the enterprise’s sustainability objectives.
